Bio: Ruth has been involved in education throughout her career. As a parent, Ruth searched for educational support services that provided a holistic approach. She searched for interventions to empower her children to become lifelong, competent, and confident learners. This left her empty-handed and discouraged, unable to find services and supports that were research-based and reliable. Then she discovered the National Institute of Learning Development’s (NILD) Educational Therapy. With a desire to provide what her children needed and seeing the unmet needs of other students, she pursued licensure to assist struggling individuals with research-based best practices, with maximum impact to overcome learning challenges.
Her desire to assist her children in their learning transformed into a skill set that many students need. Often, students with learning difficulties and disabilities have to learn to cope with their learning problems for the rest of their lives. However, research now proves that the brain can be retrained, and in many cases, learning difficulties and disabilities can be overcome. Ruth’s greatest desire is for her students to have the opportunity to learn how to learn, to learn without labels or limits, and to empower them through proven and powerful techniques that increase their ability to think and reason, not just in the classroom but in life. She desires that her students not define themselves by what they cannot do but see themselves as individuals with Limitless Learning abilities.
Ruth has a Bachelor’s of Education, Health, and Human Sciences from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from the College of Social Work at the University of Tennessee. Ruth completed her licensure as an Educational Therapist through the National Institute for Learning Development (NILD). The International Dyslexia Association accredits NILD.
Throughout her academic career, she pursued education with a focus on counseling, mental health, psychology, case management, and reading education, with advanced study in the areas of Human Behavior, Social Work Research, Evaluation Research, and Advanced Research Methods and Techniques.

Bio: Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Al-Marie "Nana" Campana is the Founder and Director of The Paper Tree House, a transformative cognitive development center in Miami, Florida. As a Professionally Certified Educational Therapist (PCET), Certified Cognitive Trainer, Certified Therapeutic Art Facilitator, and Neurodevelopmental Specialist, Nana has dedicated over 15 years to a powerful belief: life's challenges and learning difficulties don't have to be permanent.
Nana's journey began in the classroom, where she spent over 20 years as an educator specializing in underperforming students, including work in inner-city schools. With a degree in Spanish Literature and a passion for understanding why some children thrived while others struggled, she pursued answers that traditional education couldn't provide. Her personal turning point came when her son was diagnosed with ADHD and her daughter with generalized anxiety disorder—and doctors recommended medication for her daughter. Nana refused to accept that a healthy brain couldn't be restored. She reasoned: if traumatic brain injury patients can regain function through rehabilitation, why can't developing brains be guided to reach their full potential?
This conviction launched her into an intensive study of brain development, earning over 30 specialized certifications in cognitive training, neurodevelopmental therapy, and integrative approaches. Nana was recently honored with an award by the Feuerstein Institute of Enrichment and received a Scholar Award from NILD. She has been featured on Voces HITN and is a sought-after speaker and trainer.
What sets Nana apart is her integrative methodology that rewires the brain at its root, rather than merely managing symptoms. She doesn't view mental challenges as problems—she sees them as symptoms of deeper neurological foundations that can be addressed and transformed. At The Paper Tree House, she developed a signature four-phase protocol that combines cognitive training, neurodevelopmental therapy, metabolic testing, HBOT, therapeutic art, animal-assisted engagement, and individualized intervention. Her approach has helped nonverbal children speak, immobile children walk, and students told they'd never succeed graduate with honors. With hundreds of families served through her clinic—plus thousands of students and teachers impacted through her educational work—Nana's results speak for themselves. Her motto: "You hire us, to fire us"—find the glitch, correct it, and restore independence.
Beyond The Paper Tree House, Nana provides strategic consulting for schools and organizations seeking to implement brain-based learning approaches. She is in talks to open the Feuerstein Institute of Enrichment in Miami and is actively training the next generation of cognitive specialists. Her vision for the future is bold: to change the global narrative around neurodivergence, equip parents and professionals with the tools to unlock human potential, and prove that what society calls 'permanent limitations' are not problems but symptoms—temporary obstacles waiting for the right intervention.
A mother of two teenagers—both now certified cognitive trainers working alongside her—Nana is driven by a passion for returning dignity to individuals and families who've been told "there's no hope." When she's not transforming lives at the clinic, she's camping, caring for the 20+ animals integrated into her programs, and taking on challenges others say can't be done.
Nana's work is a testament to the power of refusing to accept limitations—and her life's mission is to help others do the same.
