How Technology is Changing the Brain
This webinar examines current research on how technology use shapes the brain—both positively and negatively. Participants will review age-specific recommendations for technology engagement and explore the neuroscience underlying these guidelines. By the end of the session, participants will be able to articulate and justify at least five evidence-based principles for fostering healthy technology use that supports optimal brain development and function.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Describe current neuroscientific findings on how technology use influences brain structure and function across different developmental stages.
- Differentiate between positive and negative cognitive, emotional, and behavioral outcomes associated with various types of technology engagement.
- Explain the rationale behind age-appropriate guidelines for technology use based on current research.
- Evaluate existing recommendations for technology use and identify evidence-based practices that promote healthy brain development.
- Formulate and defend at least five professional guidelines for fostering balanced, developmentally supportive technology use.
