This session examines three focal points of early learning: children’s engagement with their environment, the role of curiosity and questioning in cognitive development, and the importance of allowing productive struggle. Grounded in current research—including studies on the impact of screen time—and guided by the insights of Piaget and Vygotsky, we will explore evidence-based strategies that help children build resilience, foster independence, and deepen their capacity for wonder and problem-solving.

About Your Speaker

Madi McCloskey, B.S. in Elementary Education (Early Childhood Education concentration)

Madi McCloskey is the Director of Kiddie Prep School, where she leads programs that nurture children’s growth from toddlers through pre-kindergarten. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. Madi is deeply committed to Christ-centered early education and to expanding access to therapy services for all children in need. She values collaboration with educators, therapists, and families to ensure every child has the opportunity to flourish.
