Sound Boxes - Whys and Hows with Gray Matter Materials
You’ve taken the Gray Matter Training and excitedly embarked on your journey with the new NILD literacy materials. Now that you’re halfway through your school year, you may have some questions about the new Sound Boxes. Join us as we take a deeper dive into the uses of Sound Boxes and discuss why they are a powerful tool. We will also investigate the mapping of tricky words with Sound Boxes and how to expand that tool beyond orthographic mapping into syllables and morphemes. We will explore how to incorporate sight word instruction with the Gray Matter materials and why we should make time for this with many of our students.

About Your Speaker
Lorri Wilke, M.Ed., PCET, Certified FIE Practitioner, Cognitive Training Specialist
Lorri has worked in the field of education for almost 30 years. She maintains a private practice just outside of Chicago, IL working with those who learn differently in addition to teaching English literature, grammar, and composition online to students around the world. She is an NILD instructor for the Level I and Rx for Discovery Math courses and contributed to the creation of NILD's Mediating Math Student Workbooks and the new Rx for Discovery Writing intervention.
