About Your Instructor:

Dr. Lisa Bernier
Hi! I am Dr. Lisa Bernier, a proud two-time GCU Alumna (classes of 1986, B.S. and 2017, Ed.D.)! In between, I earned my M.A.Ed. from the University of Phoenix. I am now in my 36th year as an educator. During this time, I have served as a teacher and administrator in district, charter, virtual charter, and private Christian schools in regular education, special education, and ESL. In 2006, I developed a unique special education resource and inclusion program at a private Christian high school. I have also served on numerous ACSI and Cognia accreditation teams over the past 12 years. My life goals are to help train, equip, and encourage the next generation of education professionals.
For the past 13 years, I have been involved with a non-profit agency through which I have conducted seminars for both secular and Christian school teachers throughout Indonesia. I plan to continue this work and have taken both staff and students from GCU to this amazing country to see what God is doing there through education. Additionally, I serve on the development board for Joni and Friends, Arizona, which is an international disability ministry that began over 40 years ago by Joni Eareckson Tada. I am also a member of the Board of Directors for NILD (National Institute for Learning Development). NILD has developed a unique learning disabilities literacy therapy that is endorsed by the International Dyslexia Association.
Currently, I am the lead for Canyon Global Educators, arranging and managing overseas student teaching and field experiences for College of Education majors. Additionally, I am the co-sponsor of the newly formed Impact! Club which includes a membership in CEAI (Christian Educators Association International) for each COE student. I want to help all the COE students to make an impact for the Lord through both public and private education.
My husband, Mark, and I have four adult children and four grandchildren (and another on the way!). We live near the White Tanks Mountains with our cocker spaniel and enjoy the Arizona outdoors very much. We are also active members of our church.
